Description

Join your colleagues for an inspiring, practical, comprehensive program on a relevant issue for career counselors and employers.  Estimates are that 1 in every 250 people in the U.S. has Asperger’s or similar syndrome.  Individuals with this recently recognized neurobiological syndrome often are challenged with understanding and responding to social cues, organizing tasks and sensory/ motor issues.  As career counselors, how can we best serve these clients in our counseling sessions? How can we best guide them through the stages of career development, career readiness, job search strategies, appropriate placements and job maintenance so that they can successfully contribute their unique talents in a supportive workplace?

Guest speaker: Barbara Bissonnette of Forward Motion Coaching will provide practical guidelines for us as we answer these questions. Barbara is a certified coach who specializes in career development coaching and workplace advocacy for individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome and Nonverbal Learning Disorder.  Barbara is the author of Asperger’s Syndrome Workplace Survival Guide: A Neurotypical’s Secrets for Success.

Our program includes media presentations, interactive discussions and a presentation by Barbara that will guide us to better serve this population.

Special Bonus! The CCC is now offering a "Lunch and Learn" informal one-hour discussion after the Career Counseling for Individuals with High Functioning Autism and Asperger's Syndrome meeting.
