Salary Negotiation: How to Run a Workshop & Individual Client Coaching
When:
Apr. 13. 2012 01:30 PM - 04:30 PM
Where:
Northeastern University - Room 440 Egan Hall - Boston
Category:
Professional Development Seminar

Description

This workshop is intended for career professionals working primarily with soon-to-be or recent college graduates, but examples will also be given regarding situations with more experienced professionals.

Jen felt timid and a bit daunted by the mere idea of talking about her potential salary, let alone negotiating a higher rate. My thought was I might be wasting my breath going through the “how to’s” with her. To my delight, was I wrong! Not only did she go through with the conversation, but she actually managed to gain a few extra thousand dollars in the process!

In a tight economy, can our clients still negotiate their salaries? Are they at risk if they attempt to do so? What advice should we be giving students versus mid-career professionals?

Attend this workshop and discuss the challenges and best practices in the salary negotiation process. You’ll hear success stories, as well as examples of what our clients should not do.

The session will be run as if you are in a salary negotiation workshop, with added enhancements along the way. The benefit is that participants will leave with a workshop outline and PowerPoint to use when teaching salary negotiation in a group setting.

Facilitator: Sabrina Woods has over 10 years of career services experience. She works as an associate director at Northeastern University and has recently started her own private practice focused on “holistic career/life coaching and consulting” (www.sabrina-woods.weebly.com). She has also worked one-on-one with countless students and college alumni, coaching them and cheering them on through this delicate process.
