Biographies of Nancy O’Connell Brook and Enery Martinez:
Nancy O’Connell Brook
Nancy O’Connell Brook, respected career counselor, and former owner of Authentic Work, attended one of Richard Bolles’ first workshops in 1978 and determined this would become her lifework. She was an active member in the Greater Boston community in organizations such as the Independent Career Counselors’ Consortium, the Holistic Career Counselor’s Consortium, and the Association of Career Professional’s International, where she conceived and implemented their first mentoring program. Nancy’s work with victims of trauma lead her to write the book Thriving at Work: A Guidebook for Survivors of Childhood Abuse. Nancy was a mentor, teacher and colleague to many career development professionals in New England.
Enery Martinez, a warm and friendly Hispanic bilingual professional worked as a career counselor in the Boston area for over 17 years. Enery earned both a MS in Clinical Psychology and a BS in Psychology in her native country of Puerto Rico prior to coming to Boston. She was influential in the career counseling field through her work as a Senior Human Resources Generalist, and Program Manager at Operation Able of Greater Boston, in addition to her work with the Career Counselors’ Consortium and IACMP. Enery helped establish the Independent Career Counselors group - career professionals in private practice of which she was an active member. Additionally, Enery served on the boards of Latino Professional Network and the Boston Chapter of La Allanza Hispana, Inc.
