We’ve seen these acronyms after people’s names on LinkedIn. Some of us probably showcase a few of these ourselves.
These are just a few of the professional certifications in the world of career
coaching and career counseling – a dizzying array of options, opportunities, and outlay required to achieve them.
In a growing industry projected to reach more than $5B in U.S. revenue this year, conversations are brewing about the value and importance of coaching credentials and certs. In this session, our presenters will share and invite spirited discussion on:
- The authority and credibility of various coaching certifications
- Ways to determine if certification is for you
- Whether effective coaches always need a certification – or not
- How the marketplace – and clients – view coaches with or without certifications
This session promises to be worthwhile for coaches of all types, credentialed or not, as we explore an evolving area of chatter in our industry.
More about our Facilitators

Jim Gasperoni: Jim's journey to a coaching career began in his capacity as a member of senior management in the investment industry where he was heavily involved in professional development and mentoring initiatives. He found his way to the classroom and as a dynamic educator he enjoyed helping students of all ages increase their knowledge base and progress in their academic and career journeys.
Having gone through his own career transition, Jim knew how daunting change can be and he loved helping people realize that they have the power and the ability to act. Jim meets people where they are and supports them with empathy and accountability – whether it’s MBA students at Northeastern University where he serves as the career advisor or others in need in his outside practice.
Erik Pavesic: Erik currently works at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as an Assistant Director for Career Advising and Training! Prior to that I worked at Plymouth State University, Dartmouth College, Southern New Hampshire University, University of Hartford, and some HR roles with ComPsych. I have served on a Board before with the New Hampshire College and University Council.
He is currently a Freelance Career Coach and Training Facilitator where he uses LEGO Serious Play. He is also a Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP), an MBTI-Certified Practitioner, a Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF), a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, and graduated from the Management Leadership Institute from NACE.
